Heritage Crafts: The Wheelwright

In a rare craft of wheelwrighting, this artisan stands among the select few in the UK. Demonstrating handcrafted spokes and delving into all things wheels, their expertise spans from traditional carriage wheels to modern bicycle wheels and even cannon wheels. Beyond wheel-making, this artisan crafts carts, including vibrant market carts, and preserves the nearly forgotten art of making wooden buckets. Stemming from experience in crafting hot tubs, these buckets have found enthusiasts among gardeners, re-enactors, and various other aficionados. A display of these unique buckets will be showcased at the event, celebrating the preservation of this rare craft.

Nestled in the heart of the Norfolk Broads, Wayside Pottery Studio is Clare's creative haven. Her pottery, blending function and artistry, showcases plant and animal motifs inspired by her love for nature and wildlife. Clare returns to Strumpshaw this year, inviting everyone to experience the ancient craft of pottery-making firsthand. Join in and create your own pot using her trusty potter’s wheel!
